Vote No on 77

On June 19th residents in Washington, DC will vote on whether the city will eliminate the tipped minimum wage. As a friend of the restaurant industry, and having read about the impact this will have on restaurants, servers and the industry as a whole I ask you to Vote No on 77. As a slight detour from restaurants and cooking, I wanted to share with you a pretty awesome magazine that recently launched, Jarry. A magazine for gay men who love food. Or as their website puts it: "Jarry brings together a community of gay chefs, eaters, artisans, writers, photographers, artists, and industry influences, and celebrates the art of gay domesticity."  I discovered Jarry through their Kickstarter campaign and received the first issue last month, it's more than just a magazine, it's more like an almanac of food with great recipes, stunning photos and some pretty attractive chefs - Anjelica Houston's personal cook anyone?

News: RAMMY Winners 2015

The 33rd annual RAMMY Awards took place on Sunday, celebrating the best and tastiest that the Washington area has to offer. The awards itself are your typical affair, but give a chef a microphone and a stage you're lucky if they'll keep their speech to 30 seconds and move off the stage quietly. And we thank them for that. The only disappointment of the night was that none of the many attendees who wore kilts decided to show off their underwear. Next year fellas. Perhaps the best thing to come out of the awards is the discussion for the Restaurant Association to change.
